Emergency Gladhand (Red), Specifications & Fitment

This is the red emergency-line gladhand, the quick-connect coupler that joins the tractor and trailer emergency (supply) air line that charges the trailer reservoirs and releases the spring parking brakes. It mates to a standard SAE J318 gladhand and seals with a full-face rubber seal to hold supply pressure without leaking. The red color and offset locking lugs are the industry standard that prevent the emergency line from being coupled to the blue service line, a mismatch that would keep the trailer brakes from releasing. Replace it when you hear an air leak at the coupling, find a torn or weathered seal, or the casting is cracked and will not lock up.

Where it's used
